Quarterly Report Q3/2025
added 29. 9. 2025
In the third quarter of 2025, the discussion focused mainly on the competitiveness of the EU and the V4 countries, with Slovakia ranking among the weakest. The country fell to 63rd place out of 69 in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking and faces structural problems such as low investment and weak innovation capacity, labor shortages, demographic decline, and high energy prices.
Despite the EU’s efforts and new initiatives inspired by the Draghi report, only limited progress has been achieved within the EU. In the context of global geopolitical uncertainty and geo-economic fragmentation, Slovakia—already affected by the gradual impacts of fiscal consolidation on the business environment—risks falling even further behind its V4 partners. Looking ahead, three possible scenarios have been outlined: stagnation, gradual resilience, or innovation-driven transformation. More details can be found in the Quarterly Insight Q3/2025 document.
